Materials Preparation

Yarn: White, red, blue, yellow, black, skin color yarn.

Tools: 2.0 - 2.5mm crochet hook, polyester fiberfill, sewing needle, stitch markers, scissors.

Head

Starting Stitch: Using white yarn, make a magic ring with 6 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 single crochets (sc) into each stitch around. (12 sc)

Round 2: 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from to around. (18 sc)

Round 3: 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from to around. (24 sc)

Round 4: 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from to around. (30 sc)

Rounds 5-10: 1 sc in each stitch around. (30 sc per round)

Round 11: 1 sc in each of the next 3 stitches, single crochet 2 together (sc2tog); repeat from to around. (24 sc)

Round 12: 1 sc in each of the next 2 stitches, sc2tog; repeat from to around. (18 sc)

Begin stuffing the head firmly with fiberfill. Continue stuffing as you crochet.

Round 13: 1 sc in the next stitch, sc2tog; repeat from to around. (12 sc)

Round 14: Sc2tog 6 times. (6 sc) Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Thread tail onto sewing needle and weave through the front loops of the remaining 6 stitches. Pull tightly to close the opening. Secure and weave in end.

Ears (make 2)

Using white yarn, make a magic ring with 4 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (8 sc)

Round 2: 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch; repeat from to around. (12 sc)

Rounds 3-4: 1 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc per round) Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Bow Tie

Using red yarn, make a magic ring with 6 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (12 sc)

Rounds 2-3: 1 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc per round) Fasten off, leaving a tail.

Using white yarn, work 1 sc evenly around the entire edge of the bow piece. Fasten off.

Use a separate piece of yarn to tightly gather the center of the bow to form the bow tie shape.

Body

Starting Stitch: Using blue yarn, make a magic ring with 6 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (12 sc)

Arms (make 2)

Using white yarn, make a magic ring with 4 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (8 sc)

Rounds 2-4: 1 sc in each stitch around. (8 sc per round)

Round 5: Switch to yellow yarn. 1 sc in each stitch around. (8 sc) Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Legs (make 2)

Using white yarn, make a magic ring with 6 stitches.

Round 1: Work 2 sc into each stitch around. (12 sc)

Rounds 2-4: 1 sc in each stitch around. (12 sc per round) Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew the ears onto the head in the appropriate positions.

Sew the bow tie onto the top/front of the head.

Using black yarn, embroider the eyes and whiskers.

Using skin color yarn, embroider blush on the cheeks.

Using yellow yarn, embroider the nose.

Sew the arms onto the sides of the body.

Sew the legs onto the bottom of the body.

Using brown yarn, make two straps (e.g., using chains or crocheted strips) and sew them onto the body like overall straps. Optionally, add a small decorative tag to one strap.
